An injury while working out can happen to anyone.

Injuries that occur while working out are common but preventable. Most injuries associated with working out are overuse injuries which typically stem from training errors. Training errors can occur when you take on too much physical activity too quickly, increase the weight/distance too rapidly, or not allowing your body adequate time to recover.

Can vs. Should
Contributors to Injuries

1. Functional Competence

Your ability to maintain optimal form while performing an exercise.

2. Functional Capacity

The ability to maintain functional competence, within a given environment. This is mostly affected by increasing weight or speed too rapidly, or not having adequate recovery.

Training above your functional capacity puts you at risk for injury.
